Gore: I Am Not Running Unless I Change My Mind

    By Jeff Fecke | February 9, 2007

It looks like the man from Carthage might sit 2008 out:

Gore, now an environmental campaigner, ran for president in 2000 against the incumbent George W. Bush, but lost the race amid a bitter dispute over electoral votes in the state of Florida.

He said: “I don’t have plans to be a candidate again and though I haven’t… completely ruled out any possibility of running at some point in the future I don’t expect to and cannot perceive circumstances in which I would.”

That’s not quite closing the door, is it?

Gore would pry me away from Edwards if he ran–but increasingly, I think Al Gore realizes that he’s doing a lot of good not being president.  Certainly, he’s drawn plenty of attention to global warming.  And he’s up for an Oscar and a Nobel Prize–what’s the presidency compared to that?  (He’ll win both, too–for the simple reason that it lets people give Bush a poke in the eye.  And that’s not just for liberals anymore.)

I will say this–whomever gets the Democratic party’s endorsement should have Al Gore penciled in for Secretary of Energy.

God help us! If that happens we better start cutting foot holes in the floors of our cars and getting ready to run them Flintstones style!

I can’t wait for beautiful views of millions of miles of useless windfarms!

      puke!

Come on, admit it: the Flintstone cars would rule.

I am undecided/leaning towards Obama right now, but if Gore jumps in, I may jump with him. I do think he may actually do it, and has the luxury of waiting until late this year to do anything official. His name will be in the national spotlight all year without an official run. It sure would shake things up, and sink HRC.

FYI….Al Gore is not up for an Oscar, the film is nominated for an Oscar. The rumor I heard was that Gore is not the one that would accept the award if it were to win. Just because you are in a film that is nominated does not automatically make you an Oscar contender.
