    Franken

    By Jeff Fecke | February 23, 2007

So like Flash, I was at Drinking Liberally last night and got a chance to talk to Al Franken.  My quick take?  Well, on the plus side, Franken seems to care about what he’s talking about.  He’s about 10,000 times more sincere than Norm, and that’s a huge plus.  And he wasn’t particularly guarded, which I appreciated.  Candidates tend to speak robotically and Franken didn’t, and that’s a good thing.

If Franken is going to run and win, he’s going to have to find a way to mesh who he is with a campaign.  The good news for him is that I think he gets that.  The question over the next year will be whether he can put that into practice.  He was in very friendly territory last night, and so he was able to be free.  The bigger question will be how he fares in hostile territory.  We will see.
