Meanwhile, in Baghdad…
By Jeff Fecke | April 12, 2007
Look, if the surge can’t protect the Green Zone, we’re completely fucked:
An explosion rocked the building which houses the Iraqi parliament inside Baghdad’s heavily fortified Green Zone, a US military spokesman confirmed.
‘There was an explosion inside the Convention Centre. The cause of the explosion is unknown at this time,’ Christopher Garver said in an email.
The convention centre is the name given since the US-led invasion of Iraqi in 2003 for the complex which now houses the Iraqi parliament.
So far, reports are very sketch, but expect them to be bad. Nevertheless, this isn’t about the death toll. The Green Zone is the most heavily fortified position in Iraq. If we can’t even secure it during “Plus Up,” we won’t be able to secure it.
