Message: I Don’t Care
By Jeff Fecke | April 15, 2007
So evidently Markos really doesn’t give a damn that he pissed off everyone with his idiotic comments regarding Kathy Sierra. How else can you explain a post that says, in effect, “Yeah, right–codes of conduct are stupid. What do we disagree on?” Markos is clearly being willfully obtuse, if not churlishly dismissive.
This isn’t the first time that Kos has minimized the complaints of women, and it won’t be the last. It will, however, be the last time I’ll care, because I’m done with his site. If he can’t be bothered to apologize for at the very least being inaccurate in his writing, he’s not the kind of person I want to associate with.
Chris Clarke sums this up with a one-act play that you should read. And I’m sure a lot of people I like and respect will have the outrage cranked to eleven. But I can’t. After Markos’ first stupid dismissal of women, I should have recognized that he wasn’t exactly a profeminist blogger. As our president couldn’t remember: fool me twice, shame on me.

You know, between Kos’ repeated insensitivities toward women’s legitimate concerns, and John Aravosis’ repeated insensitivities toward, well, lots of people’s legitimate concerns, I’m beginning to think that maybe it’s not a good idea that progressives choose to lavish so much attention on bloggers who used to work for Republicans.
Ahem.

You mean we should support progressive bloggers who are actually progressive? Wouldn’t that make us shrill?
