Our Nation’s Health Care System: It’s Fan-tastic!
By Jeff Fecke | February 19, 2008
Those of you from the Chicagoland area may be familiar with the comedy troupe Schadenfreude. They’re pretty funny, and I’m not just saying that because the brother of a friend of a friend is a part of the group. At any rate, Schadenfreude now has a blog (doesn’t everybody?), and Justin Kaufmann shares his happy story of dealing with America’s health care system:
So while watching [Sicko], lil’ Miles got up. He wasn’t doing so well. He had a fever. I got his temperature and consulted my baby book about what to do. It said “call service provider and give baby medicine”. So I call our service provider. After realizing service provider didn’t mean AT&T, I hung up and called the doctor. To get the doctor to call us back? 25 bucks. Just to have the doctor call back and say go ahead and give them baby medicine. This while we are watching a movie about how the health care system is broken.
Ha! Oh, wait, not particularly funny. Of course, it’s hard to laugh at these prices. If you want funny, Kate James asks of the hit TV series “Brothers and Sisters,” “All the members of one family can’t be gay and/or cheating on their spouse. Or can they?” Yes they can, Kate. Yes they can.
